Rising Pre-K & Kindergartners

We’re all about play! With a range of centers designed by Newman primary teachers, this program appeals to children of all interests. We are architects, mud workers, sculptors, swimmers, artists, athletes and more. Our low camper-to-counselor ratio ensures that all children receive a high level of attention throughout the day.

Rising 1st & 2nd Graders

A little choice – a little structure. Campers in this program enjoy the freedom to choose from a variety of electives three times a day. In addition, campers participate in instructional swim or another physical activity at least once a day.

Rising 3rd - 6th Graders

This program is all about choice! Every day is set up so that a child may design his or her own camp experience. This level of customization allows Camp to meet the interests of the athlete, the artist, the scientist, and the child who wants to try it all.

Rising 7th & 8th Graders

Put your best foot forward!  This program brings focus to all of the experiential learning we offer at Camp.  Participants develop 21st century skills in leadership, teamwork, and empathy through project-based activities, community outreach, and by serving as mentors to our younger campers.

Age Groups

Campers will be grouped by grade level but will interact with children of other ages throughout the day.

Swimming at Day Camp

Newman Summer Day Camp offers developmentally appropriate swim instruction to all campers at no additional cost. Nu Wave Swim Club oversees all swim activities at Camp. Lifeguard certified instructors supervise the pool at all times. All campers who are signed up to swim will first take a swimming test to determine skill level. Life vests will be worn by campers not yet ready to swim on their own.

DAILY INSTRUCTIONAL SWIM

Campers participating in Instructional Swim are in the pool five days a week. Each small class consists of 15-20 minutes of individualized guided skills practice followed by free swim.

OPTIONAL FREE SWIM

Campers signed up for Optional Free Swim are welcome to participate in organized pool games and free swim when offered (2-4 days a week).

NO SWIM

Campers who are not signed up to swim will participate in other fun activities.
