Sports camp Director
Tracy Blackerby, a Newman graduate ‘06, attended Tulane University where she received her Bachelors of Public Health (2010) and Masters of Public Health (2011). After completing her Masters, she volunteered as an AmeriCorps Member teaching health education in the New Orleans Metro area. She returned to Newman in the fall of 2013 to teach Physical Education and restart the Girls Basketball Program. Coach Blackerby is in her 9th year as a Lower School PE teacher and spent the last 5 years serving as the Head Girls Basketball Coach. She also coaches Middle School Volleyball and Softball. Coach Blackerby has worked Summer Camp for 8 years and is looking forward to another great Newman Summer!
Aaron Vice
football
Coach Vice has over fifteen years of football coaching experience and has served as Newman’s Varsity Head Football Coach since the Fall 2025. For three years prior, Coach Vice worked as the Assistant Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator and a Physical Education Teacher at University Lab School in Baton Rouge. Prior to this role he worked as an Assistant Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Central High School in Baton Rouge. He has also worked as an Assistant Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator at The Kinkaid School and St. John’s School in Houston, TX, and Denham Springs High School in Denham Springs, LA. Coach Vice has been a Physical Education Teacher at each school he has worked. Before transitioning to high school athletics, Coach Vice worked as a Tight Ends Assistant, Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers Assistant, and a Graduate Assistant at Louisiana State University under Head Coach Les Miles and Tight End Coach Steve Ensminger. Coach Vice received both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Liberal Arts from Louisiana State University. He is highly regarded in football circles across several different states and has built strong professional relationships both at the secondary and collegiate level.
Corné Eksteen
soccer
Corne Eksteen attended the University of the Free State (South Africa), where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Science (2007) and a Master’s degree in Human Movement Science (2015). She began her soccer coaching career in 2010, working at both the high school and club levels, and holds a State Soccer Coaching Certificate (“C” License). Coach Eksteen currently serves as a coach for two girls’ travel teams with the Louisiana Fire Soccer Club. She has been a full-time staff member in the Admissions Office at Isidore Newman School since 2019.
jason Templet
Basketball
Coach Templet was named Newman’s Varsity Head Basketball Coach in 2025 and brings over nine years of basketball coaching experience at both the collegiate and secondary level to the Varsity Head Basketball Coach role. For three year prior, Coach Templet worked as the Assistant Coach to the Varsity Boys Basketball program at Jesuit High School in New Orleans where he also taught History. Prior to this role he worked as the Assistant Basketball Coach at the University of Mobile, Alabama, the Varsity basketball Head Coach at Saint Mary’s High School in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and as the Associate Head Coach at Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Coach Templet holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Louisiana State University and is receiving his Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Social Studies.

Patrick Adams, Jr.
Baseball
Pat Adams Jr. played high school baseball at Archbishop Rummel High School, graduating in 1984. After coaching in Jefferson Parish Recreation Department from 1989 until 2008, he started coaching high school baseball at his alma mater in 2009. He coached all levels at Rummel including 3 years as a varsity assistant. Coach Adams is currently involved as a coach in the Carrollton Blue Travel Organization and has coached ages 9-12. In 2018 Coach Adams became the Middle School Baseball Director and Coach. In 2020, Coach Pat was named Newman’s Varisty Head Baseball Coach. He oversees the Newman Baseball program from 6th through 12th grade. Coach Pat resides in Metairie with his wife Dari, and they have twin boys.
